The capital of the island, Hora or Mykonos Town is considered as the most beautiful village in the Cyclades. What is astonishing though is that, in between the quaint houses, more than 350 churches can be found on this little island. These are also painted crystal white but they can be distinguished from their blue or red painted domes. Near this the Folklore Museum can also be found, which contains a rich variety of local artefacts. Delos, the island just a few miles south of Mykonos is considered as one of the most spiritual centres of Ancient Greece, with a strong tie to mythology as it was said to be the birthplace of Apollo. This island is covered with ancient monuments including an ancient harbour, the Heiron of Apollo and the Avenue of the Lions.
